There are various routes to making money online, numerous business opportunities, especially for iGaming affiliates. I started an online gambling affiliate business in May 2021 and I will post my financial results and income.
Barriers to entry for iGaming affiliate business are low, so expect fierce competition to gain new customers. Generating good volumes of traffic is especially challenging, how do you attract potential customers to your website?
One solution to this problem is getting your domain ranking high on google search results, this will mean that you will have to gain a high domain authority to drive traffic naturally (but this will take time – potentially many years), in addition to ranking well for certain keywords which you want to focus on. Alternatively you can use a PPC (Pay Per Click) campaign such as google ads to rank your keywords higher, although this can be expensive. Having a good social account and following is also a great idea to generate traffic.
You will also have to decide on which niche you are going to have. Are you going to be a general iGaming affiliate covering all games and aspects, this could be time consuming. Or are you going to select a niche, such as; sports, poker, bingo, lottery, casino, slots, blackjack, roulette, live casino and so on. Choosing a niche that you are interested in, or knowledgeable around may be the best way to go.
You also have to decide what content your website will have, some affiliate websites have just simple banners with bonus offers, some websites specialise in sports statistics, such as past football results and some websites offer in-depth reviews.
Consideration needs to be given for your geographical target area, and looking into the regulations surrounding online gambling in that region, as this affects affiliates also.
Although I have been involved as an online iGaming affiliate for a number of years, this was the first time I was going to set up websites to focus on the Poker niche within online gambling. For me, I tried to build my websites authority by posting regular content, and arranging to swap links with competitors and paying for guest posts. I also set up social media accounts.
My Affiliate Results
Below are my iGaming affiliate results, as you can see the first few month were a particular struggle and was considering giving up on several occasions as I was not getting the results I wanted, but affiliation is not a “get rich quick scheme” and takes time to build a website and authority, so I continued to plod along.
With just under £2,000 earned in the first year the results were reasonable considering the time committed to the side hustle and the low cost of setting up all my domains, well under £100.
iGaming Affiliate Tips
Getting on some good affiliate programs is key, my top recommendations are:
Matching Visions
BTAG MEDIA
E Gaming Online
TAU Affiliates (UK only)
Gambling Affiliation
BC.GAME
Another good choice would be to use a reliable and trustworthy web hosting and domain registration company, I would recommend using 123reg, I have used them for a number of years and always found their services to be great, and competitively priced, you can find out more about them and their offers HERE.
One mistake I made was spending too much time building all the content myself, I would recommend hiring a good content writer/blogger for your website, or you can get content writers cheap online with websites such as Fiverr.
iGaming Conclusion
If you are considering trying to set up an iGaming affiliate business I wish you luck, and there is still money to be made if you can generate traffic and differentiate yourself from the competition.
